  In the present paper, we obtain asymptotic expansion of the wavelet transform for large value of dilation parameter a by using L&#243;pez technique. Asymptotic expansion of Shannon wavelet, Morlet wavelet and Mexican Hat wavelet transform are obtained as special cases.

Introduction</title><p>The continuous wavelet transform of a function h with respect to the wavelet <inline-formula><inline-graphic xlink:href="http://html.scirp.org/file/2-5300789x5.png" xlink:type="simple"/></inline-formula> is defined as</p><disp-formula id="scirp.53149-formula210"><label>(1)</label><graphic position="anchor" xlink:href="http://html.scirp.org/file/2-5300789x6.png"  xlink:type="simple"/></disp-formula><p>provided the integral exists [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.53149-ref1">1</xref>] . The asymptotic expansion for Mellin convolution</p><disp-formula id="scirp.53149-formula211"><label>(2)</label><graphic position="anchor" xlink:href="http://html.scirp.org/file/2-5300789x7.png"  xlink:type="simple"/></disp-formula><p>was proposed by L&#243;pez [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.53149-ref2">2</xref>] , under dyadic conditions on g and h. Let us remind earlier results from [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.53149-ref2">2</xref>] , which will be used in present study. We assume that <inline-formula><inline-graphic xlink:href="http://html.scirp.org/file/2-5300789x8.png" xlink:type="simple"/></inline-formula> and <inline-formula><inline-graphic xlink:href="http://html.scirp.org/file/2-5300789x9.png" xlink:type="simple"/></inline-formula> have asymptotic expansions of the form:</p><disp-formula obtained by Pathak and Pathak 2009 [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.53149-ref3">3</xref>] -[<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.53149-ref5">5</xref>] .</p><p>The main aim of the present paper is to derive asymptotic expansion of the wavelet transform for large value of a, by using Theorem 1. We also obtain asymptotic expansions for the special transforms corresponding to Shannon wavelet, Morlet wavelet and Mexican hat wavelet.</p></sec><sec id="s2"><title>2.
