  In this paper, we investigate local properties in the system of completely 1-summing mapping spaces. We introduce notions of injectivity, local reflexivity, exactness, nuclearity and finite-representability in the system of completely 1-summing mapping spaces. First we obtain that if

Introduction</title><p>The theory of operator spaces is a natural non-commutative quantization of Banach space theory. Many problems in operator spaces are naturally motivated by both Banach space theory and operator algebra theory. Some local properties such as injectivity, nuclearity, local reflexivity and exactness have been intensively studied in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref1">1</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref2">2</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref3">3</xref>] . In particular, we have for any operator space V,</p><p>V     is   nuclear ⇒ V     is   exact ⇒ V     is   locally   reflexive . (1)</p><p>The first implication of (1) was proved in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref3">3</xref>] and the second in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref2">2</xref>] . In [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref2">2</xref>] , Effros, Ozawa and Ruan showed that an operator space V is nuclear if and only if V is locally reflexive and V * * is injective. As pointed out in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref2">2</xref>] , local reflexivity is an essential condition in this result since Kirchberg [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref4">4</xref>] has constructed a separable non-nuclear operator space V for which V * * = ∏ n = 1 + ∞     M n . Turning to C * -algebra theory, using Conne’s deep work in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref5">5</xref>] , Choi and Effros proved the following result in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref6">6</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref7">7</xref>] :</p><p>A   C * -algerba   A   is   nuclear ⇔ its   second   dual   A * *   is   injective   .</p><p>In [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref8">8</xref>] , Dong and Ruan showed that an operator space V is exact if and only if V is locally reflexive and V * * is weak* exact.</p><p>For the convenience of the readers, we recall some basic notations and results in operator spaces, the details of which can be found in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref9">9</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref10">10</xref>] . Given abstract operator spaces V and W and a linear mapping φ : V → W , for each n ∈ N there is a corresponding linear mapping φ n : M n ( V ) → M n ( W ) defined by</p><p>φ n ( v ) = [ φ ( v i , j ) ]</p><p>for all v = [ v i , j ] ∈ M n ( V ) . We define the completely bounded norm of φ by</p><p>‖ φ ‖ c b = sup { ‖ φ n ‖ : n ∈ N }</p><p>(this might be infinite). It is evident that the norms ‖ φ n ‖ form an increasing sequence</p><p>‖ φ ‖ ≤ ‖ φ 2 ‖ ≤ ⋯ ≤ ‖ φ n ‖ ≤ ⋯ ≤ ‖ φ ‖ c b .</p><p>We say that φ is completely bounded (respectively, completely contractive) if ‖ φ ‖ c b &lt; ∞ (respectively, ‖ φ ‖ c b ≤ 1 ). It is a simple matter to verify that ‖   ⋅   ‖ c b is a norm on the linear space C B ( V , W ) of completely bounded linear mappings φ : V → W . We say that φ is a complete quotient mapping if each φ n is a quotient mapping (i.e. φ n maps M n ( V ) ‖   ⋅   ‖ &lt; 1 onto M n ( W ) ‖   ⋅   ‖ &lt; 1 ), and that φ is an exact complete quotient mapping if each φ n is an exact quotient mapping (i.e. φ n maps M n ( V ) ‖   ⋅   ‖ ≤ 1 onto M n ( W ) ‖   ⋅   ‖ ≤ 1 ).</p><p>We use the notations V ⊗ ⌣ W and V ⊗ ^ W for the injective, projective operator space tensor products (see [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref11">11</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref12">12</xref>] ). In the following, we give some definitions of local properties in the system ( C B ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , ‖   ⋅   ‖ c b ) for operator spaces. Given an operator space V, we define:</p><p>(a) Injectivity (see [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref9">9</xref>] ). If for any operator space X ⊆ Y and a complete contraction φ : X → V , there is a completely contractive extension φ ˜ : Y → V .</p><p>(b) Local reflexivity (see [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref9">9</xref>] ). If for any finite dimensional operator space L, every complete contraction φ : L → V * * is the point-weak<sup>*</sup> limit of a net of complete contractions φ α : L → V . It follows from Theorem 14.3.1 in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref9">9</xref>] that an operator space V is locally reflexive if and only if C B ( L , V * * ) = C B ( L , V ) * * for any finite dimensional operator space L.</p><p>(c) Exactness (see [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref9">9</xref>] or [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref10">10</xref>] ). If for any finite dimensional subspace L of V and every ε &gt; 0 , there exists an integer n and a subspace S ⊆ M n such that d c b ( L , S ) &lt; 1 + ε . This is equivalent to the following definition: there exists a diagram of complete contractions.</p><disp-formula id="scirp.125800-formula5"><graphic  xlink:href="//html.scirp.org/file/6-1723267x54.png?20230625180404393"  xlink:type="simple"/></disp-formula><p>which approximately commute in the point-norm topology.</p><p>(d) Nuclearity (see [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref9">9</xref>] ). There exists a diagram of complete contractions</p><disp-formula id="scirp.125800-formula6"><graphic  xlink:href="//html.scirp.org/file/6-1723267x55.png?20230625180404393"  xlink:type="simple"/></disp-formula><p>which approximately commute in the point-norm topology.</p><p>(e) Finitely representable in { W α } α ∈ I (see [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref1">1</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref3">3</xref>] ). Given operator spaces E and F, we define the completely bounded Banach-Mazur distance introduced in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref3">3</xref>] :</p><p>d c b ( E , F ) = inf { ‖ r ‖ c b ⋅ ‖ r − 1 ‖ c b : E ≅ r F } . (2)</p><p>Given a family of operator spaces { W α } α ∈ I and the distance (2), for every finite-dimensional subspace L of V and ε &gt; 0 , there exists a subspace S of some W α such that d c b ( L , S ) &lt; 1 + ε .</p><p>(f) The weak expectation property (or simply, WEP) (see [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref9">9</xref>] ). Given an operator space V, for any completely isometric inclusion τ : V ↪ B ( H ) , there exists a completely contractive mapping P : B ( H ) → V * * such that P ∘ τ = ł V , where ł V : V ↪ V * * is the canonical inclusion.</p><p>Mapping spaces naturally arise in both the theory and applications of functional analysis. Grothendieck introduced the theory of nuclear mapping spaces N B ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , integral mapping spaces I B ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) and 1-summing mapping spaces Π 1 B ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref13">13</xref>] . Nuclear mappings play an important part in the theory of Schwartz spaces and their applications to differential equations and quantum field theory. Grothendieck also used 1-summing mappings to investigate the Dvoretzky-Rogers theorem. It has been said that Grothendieck’s theory of 1-summing mappings is in some sense at the heart of Banach space theory.</p><p>With the results in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref14">14</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref15">15</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref16">16</xref>] , it is now evident that major components of Grothendieck’s program make sense in the context of operator spaces. An operator space mapping space O is an assignment to each pair of operator spaces V , W of a linear space O ( V , W ) of completely bounded mapping φ : V → W , together with an operator space matrix norm ‖   ⋅   ‖ O , such that for each φ ∈ M n ( O ( V , W ) ) ,</p><p>(a) ‖ φ ‖ c b ≤ ‖ φ ‖ O ;</p><p>(b) for any linear mapping r : U → V and s : W → X ,</p><p>‖ s n ∘ φ ∘ r ‖ O ≤ ‖ s ‖ c b ⋅ ‖ φ ‖ O ⋅ ‖ r ‖ c b .</p><p>We define the completely nuclear mapping space N ( V , W ) to be the image of the canonical mapping Φ : V * ⊗ ^ W → V * ⊗ ⌣ W ⊆ C B ( V , W ) , with the quotient operator space structure determined by the identification</p><p>N ( V , W ) ≅ V * ⊗ ^ W ker Φ .</p><p>We let ν be the corresponding norm on N ( V , W ) .</p><p>Given operator spaces V and W, we define a mapping φ : V → W to be completely integral if</p><p>ι ( φ ) = sup { ν ( φ | S ) : finite   dimensional     S ⊆ V } &lt; ∞ .</p><p>We let I ( V , W ) denote the set of all completely integral mappings from V into W. We let Π 1 ( V , W ) denote the space of all completely 1-summing mappings from V into W.</p><p>For given operator spaces V and W, analogues of four of the most important Banach mapping spaces (nuclear mapping spaces, integral mapping spaces, absolutely summing mapping spaces and bounded mapping spaces) are the completely nuclear mapping spaces ( N ( V , W ) , ν ) , the completely integral mapping spaces ( I ( V , W ) , ι ) , the completely 1-summing mapping spaces ( Π 1 ( V , W ) , π 1 ) and the completely bounded mapping spaces ( C B ( V , W ) , ‖   ⋅   ‖ c b ) . We have the following contractive inclusions:</p><p>N ( V , W ) ⊆ I ( V , W ) ⊆ Π 1 ( V , W ) ⊆ C B ( V , W ) .</p><p>As we know, mapping spaces provide a fundamental tool for studying Banach spaces and operator spaces. In this note, we are interested in the local properties in the system of completely 1-summing mapping spaces ( Π 1 ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , π 1 ) . As we have seen, the local theory in the system of completely 1-summing mapping spaces is quite different from the original local theory of completely bounded mapping spaces.</p></sec><sec id="s2"><title>2. Completely 1-Summing Mapping Space</title><p>We let Π 1 ( V , W ) denote the space of all completely 1-summing mappings from V into W. So we first investigate its analogue in the system of completely 1-summing mapping spaces.</p><p>Definition 2.1. We say an operator space V is injective in the system ( Π 1 ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , π 1 ( ⋅ ) ) if for any operator spaces W 0 ⊆ W , every completely 1-summing mapping φ 0 ∈ Π 1 ( W 0 , V ) has a linear extension φ ∈ Π 1 ( W , V ) satisfying π 1 ( φ ) = π 1 ( φ 0 ) .</p><p>Lemma 2.2. A nuclear operator space V is injective in the system ( Π 1 ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , π 1 ( ⋅ ) ) if and only if for any inclusion of operator spaces W 0 ⊆ W , the restriction mapping</p><p>ρ : Π 1 ( W , V ) → Π 1 ( W 0 , V )</p><p>is an exact completely quotient mapping.</p><p>Proof. From Corollary 15.5.3 in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref9">9</xref>] , if V is a nuclear operator space, then we have the isometry I ( V , W ) = Π 1 ( V , W ) for all operator space W. By the Lemma 2.2 in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref17">17</xref>] , we get the conclusion.&#168;</p><p>Proposition 2.3. From Corollary 13.2.2 in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref9">9</xref>] , we have π 1 ( ψ ) ≤ ι ( ψ ) . If an operator space V ⊆ B ( H ) is nuclear in the system ( Π 1 ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , π 1 ( ⋅ ) ) , it is nuclear in the system ( I ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , ι ( ⋅ ) ) . By Theorem 3.4 in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref17">17</xref>] , we have V is nuclear and ι ( i d V ) ≤ 1 . We get π 1 ( i d V ) ≤ 1 . Conversely, suppose that V is nuclear and π 1 ( i d V ) ≤ 1 . The proof is similar to that of Theorem 2.5.&#168;</p><p>Definition 2.8. An operator space V is locally reflexive in the system ( Π 1 ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , π 1 ( ⋅ ) ) if for any finite dimensional operator space L,</p><p>Π 1 ( L , V * * ) = Π 1 ( L , W ) * * .</p><p>Proposition 2.9. An operator space V is nuclear in the system ( Π 1 ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , π 1 ( ⋅ ) ) if and only if V = ℂ .</p><p>Proof. The converse is obvious.&#168;</p><p>From the work of Kirchberg and Pisier ( [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref3">3</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref19">19</xref>] ) we see that an operator space V is exact if and only if it is finitely representable in { M n } n ∈ ℕ . In this note, we will consider the analogue in the system of completely 1-summing mapping spaces. We say that an operator space V is finitely representable in { W α } α ∈ I in the system ( Π 1 ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , π 1 ( ⋅ ) ) if for every finite-dimensional subspace L of V and ε &gt; 0 , there exists a subspace S of some W α such that d π 1 ( L , S ) &lt; 1 + ε .</p><p>In this paper, we are mainly interested in the finite-representability in { M n } n ∈ ℕ in the system ( Π 1 ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , π 1 ( ⋅ ) ) .</p><p>Theorem 2.16. An operator space V ⊆ B ( H ) is exact in the system ( Π 1 ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , π 1 ( ⋅ ) ) if and only if V is finitely representable in { M n } n ∈ ℕ in the system ( Π 1 ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , π 1 ( ⋅ ) ) .</p><p>Proof. From the above proposition, the operator space V is also finitely representable in { M n } n ∈ ℕ in the system ( I ( ⋅ , ⋅ ) , ι ( ⋅ ) ) . From Theorem 4.3 in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref17">17</xref>] , we have V = ℂ . The converse is obvious.&#168;</p></sec><sec id="s3"><title>3. Conclusion</title><p>In this paper, we have investigated local properties in the system of completely 1-summing mapping spaces. Combined with the work of [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref17">17</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.125800-ref18">18</xref>] , we have provided a very complete characterization of the local properties of completely 1-summing mapping spaces, completely nuclear mapping spaces and completely Integral Mapping Spaces. We have found if an operator is WEP, the locally reflexive property is equivalent in completely 1-summing mapping space and completely nuclear mapping spaces. And if an operator is exact, the finitely representable property is equivalent in completely 1-summing mapping space and completely nuclear mapping spaces.</p><p>In future work, we will apply the theories of completely 1-summing mapping spaces to the category of C*-algebras. For example, we will study Kirchberg’s conjecture and QWEP conjecture in the system of completely 1-summing mapping spaces.
