  In this paper, the ill-posedness of derivative interpolation is discussed, and a regularized derivative interpolation for non-bandlimited signals is presented. The convergence of the regularized derivative interpolation is studied. The numerical results are given and compared with derivative interpolation using the Tikhonov regularization method. The regularized derivative interpolation in this paper is more accurate in computation.

Introduction</title><p>The computation of the derivative is widely applied in science and engineering [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref1">1</xref>].</p><p>In this section, we present the problem of finding the derivative of non-bandlimited signals by the sampling theorem.</p><p>Definition 1: Suppose a function f ∈ L 2 ( R ) , its Fourier transform f ^ is:</p><p>f ^ ( ω ) = F ( f ) ( ω ) = ∫ − ∞ + ∞     f ( t ) e − i ω t d t ,     ω ∈ R (1)</p><p>Definition 2: A function f ∈ L 2 ( R ) is said to be Ω -band-limited if f ^ ( ω ) = 0 , for every ω ∉ [ − Ω , Ω ] . Otherwise, it is non-bandlimited. Here f ^ is the Fourier transform of f [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref2">2</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref3">3</xref>].</p><p>The inversion formula is</p><p>F − 1 ( f ^ ) ( t ) = f ( t ) = 1 2 π ∫ − ∞ ∞     f ^ ( ω ) e i ω t d ω ,     a .e .     t ∈ R (2)</p><p>For band-limited signals, we have the Shannon sampling theorem [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref2">2</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref3">3</xref>].</p><p>Shannon Sampling Theorem. If f ∈ L 2 ( R ) and is Ω -band-limited, then it can be exactly reconstructed from its samples f ( n h ) :</p><p>f ( t ) = lim N → ∞ ∑ n = − N N     S I N C Ω ( t − n h ) f ( n h ) (3)</p><p>where S I N C Ω ( t − n h ) : = sin Ω ( t − n h ) Ω ( t − n h ) and h = π / Ω . Here the convergence is in L 2 and uniformly on R .</p><p>In [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref4">4</xref>], Marks presented an algorithm to find the derivative of band-limited signals by the sampling theorem:</p><p>f ( k ) ( t ) = ∑ n = − ∞ ∞ [ S I N C Ω ( t − n h ) ] ( k ) f ( n h ) . (4)</p><p>Here, again, the convergence is in L 2 and uniformly on R .</p><p>In [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref5">5</xref>], a method of numerical differentiation is given by low degree Chebyshev.</p><p>In this paper, we will consider the problem of computing f ( k ) from the samples of f in the presence of noise.</p><p>f ( n h ) = f E ( n h ) + η ( n h ) , (5)</p><p>where f E ( n h ) is the exact signal and { η ( n h ) } is the noise with the bound δ &gt; 0 , | η ( n h ) | ≤ δ .</p><p>Formula (4) is not reliable due to the ill-poseness. In [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref6">6</xref>], a regularized derivative interpolation formula is presented for Ω -bandlimited functions. In this paper, a regularized derivative interpolation formula will be presented for non-bandlimited functions. Its convergence property is proved and applications will be shown by some examples. In the case non-bandlimited functions, the error estimate is different and the step size h of the samples is necessary to be close to zero.</p></sec><sec id="s2"><title>2. The Regularized Derivative Interpolation</title><p>In this section, we present the regularized derivative interpolation by the sampling theorem in the pair of spaces ( C N B k ,   l ∞ ) . The problem of computing f ( k ) ( t ) from f ( n h ) is an ill-posed problem.</p><p>To solve this ill-posed problem, we introduce the regularized Fourier transform [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref7">7</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref8">8</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref9">9</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref10">10</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref11">11</xref>]:</p><p>Definition 2. We will choose the regularization parameter by the experiment. According to Theorem 2, α depends on δ . Experimental Results</title><p>In this section, we give some examples to compare the regularized derivative interpolation by sampling with the Tikhonov regularization method [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref16">16</xref>] [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="scirp.114846-ref17">17</xref>].</p><p>In practice, only finite terms can be used in (8). Conclusion</title><p>The computation of derivatives is a highly ill-posed problem. The regularized derivative interpolation by sampling can be applied. The convergence property is proved and tested by some examples.
