ABSTRACT: Autism is a complex disability that requires collaboration, consultation and communication for provision of optimum treatment and intervention. Both psychiatrists and educators are key to the well-being of children and their families and can work together successfully in a comprehensive framework. This article provides information and recommendations in order to bridge both disciplinary fields so that this framework can be established.
