ABSTRACT: There is extensive literature dealing with toxicity and human health. A goodly portion puts focus on involvement of electron transfer, reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress involving body organs. There is evidence for prevention or amelioration by antioxidants. This is one mechanism which is part of a multifaceted mode of action. This review comprises an update of earlier literature.
