ABSTRACT: The Palaeoproterozoic basins across the world demonstrate oxygenation of oceans and these have resulted in extensive blanket deposits of Manganese and Phosphorite in various parts of world and also in India. Bijawar basin is one such basin in India which exhibits rich phosphatic deposits of chemogenic origin. The authors have worked in the southwestern part of the Bijawar basinal sediments, in parts of Barwah-Harda Inlier and collected some field evidences suggesting fluctuating geochemical characters of the Proterozoic ocean within the same basin.
