ABSTRACT: In Mexico, the rural population is over 50 years old, and generational change is not occurring. Therefore, government and private sector programs must be implemented with the existing population. To bring processes and technologies to the rural population and empower them, non-formal adult education processes have been used, specifically Andragogy. This document aims to highlight the use of this working method in support programs of the Mexican government, operationalized by the National Institute of Forestry, Agricultural and Livestock Research (INIFAP). These programs are accompanied by other working models that contribute to the transmission of appropriate knowledge within the context of the environment and the existing technological gradients in Mexico. The results indicate that the mixing of knowledge and the exchange of these are crucial as long as there is no generational change in rural areas, so andragogical methods are the ideal mechanism for the transmission of knowledge, technologies and processes that improve the quality of life of the rural population.
