ABSTRACT: To describe a grammatical transformation, an analysis must show how the configurations involved are related and which dependent material is affected. The Δ operatorial architecture makes this relation explicit for comparative purposes. It treats transformation as an intervention on a linguistic configuration and uses Δ as a general operator to classify how the relation is oriented or modified, without adding a mechanism specific to any one component. The framework distinguishes two linked levels of representation: macrostructural notation states the relation between configurations, while microstructural notation specifies the relational nucleus and the affected material. Together, these levels organize eight regimes: directional correspondence, integration, semantic or grammatical reorientation, correlated replacement, relational coupling, elimination, positional reorganization, and cumulative paradigmatic organization. Comparisons with established theoretical frameworks illustrate how the architecture describes an intervention’s structural conditions while leaving each framework’s explanation intact; it does not adjudicate empirical disagreements among them. Examples from Romanian, English, and Modern Greek demonstrate the notation and comparative procedure. The framework’s applicability and limitations remain open to further empirical assessment.
