ABSTRACT: In this work, we present a theoretical study of the bifacial polycrystalline silicon solar cell in static regime under the effect of the illumination level using the Mathcad software, along with a comparative study with experimental results. Minority carrier density profiles accounting for the illumination level, recombination velocities at the junction and at the back surface have been plotted as a function of depth in the base. From these carrier densities, other parameters, photocurrent, photovoltage, I-V characteristic and power, were derived. Two operating modes of the solar cell (current or voltage generator) are described, corresponding to high and low recombination velocities at the junction, respectively. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental results obtained in 2012 by Ly, Ibrahima et al. Furthermore, the power study showed that the power obtained from simultaneous illumination of both faces is greater than that obtained from the front or rear face alone.
