ABSTRACT: Introduction: This study aimed to assess healthcare professionals’ knowledge and stated attitudes regarding medical confidentiality in the context of HIV, and to describe PLHIV perceptions of confidentiality at Labé Regional Hospital. Conclusion: Healthcare professionals showed heterogeneous knowledge and stated attitudes regarding HIV-related medical confidentiality, while most PLHIV reported that confidentiality was respected and opposed its future lifting. These descriptive findings do not establish that disclosure to partners or relatives is legally authorised or appropriate without reference to the applicable Guinean legal and ethical conditions.
