ABSTRACT: This article assesses the current seismotectonic state of the Karjantau and North Fergana fault zones, based on GNSS observations and a comprehensive analysis of earthquake focal mechanisms. The study analyzed the results of horizontal movement velocities identified at GNSS stations located along the Chirchik, Xumsan, Chodak, and Gova profiles, as well as the mechanisms of earthquakes recorded in the Tashkent and Namangan regions. The results obtained showed the existence of relative movements of tectonic blocks separated by active faults and their different directions. Analysis of earthquake focus mechanisms showed the predominance of strike-slip, reverse, and oblique-slip types of deformation. Results of GNSS data and focal mechanisms are relatively consistent, confirming the formation of a complex transpressive deformation regime in the study area.
