ABSTRACT: The rapid evolution of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), poses significant challenges for modern workforce development programs. AI is reshaping job roles and skill requirements, especially for information technology (IT) professionals who must continuously update their skills. To address these challenges, companies need strategies for sustainable career development, including upskilling and reskilling. This research examines AI’s impact on workforce development and proposes a sustainable, future-ready talent development framework. The study involves a comprehensive literature review and a qualitative case study analysis of IT professionals in a governmental organization. The research aims to provide leaders and policymakers with practical approaches for digital workforce development. By exploring the perspectives of human resources and talent development professionals, technical managers, leadership, and employees, along with findings of other research, the study proposes a future-ready workforce development strategy for organizations to implement. Unlike previous studies that focus on the economic or ethical impacts of technological change, this research considers the multifaceted factors relevant to AI’s impact and proposes a Comprehensive Talent Development Framework that enables organizations to tackle the challenges of emerging technologies. Including a case study from a government organization’s information technology department enhances the proposed framework’s relevance and applicability to other organizations.
