ABSTRACT: Anne of Green Gables is a masterpiece by Canadian writer Lucy Maude Montgomery, which tells the story of Anne, a red-haired girl who grew up in an orphanage. In beautiful Prince Edward Island, Matthew and Marilla, a brother and sister living in Green Gables farmhouse, originally planned to go to the orphanage to adopt a boy to help them manage the farm, but for a strange combination of circumstances, they adopt Anne. With her own unique charm and personality, Anne made many good friends at Green Gables Farmhouse, received an education and grew up happily. As soon as the book was published, it became a bestseller, and researchers have interpreted and discussed it from various angles. The description of nature and the relationship between the sexes in this book all reflect a strong ecofeminism. Ecofeminism is a theoretical viewpoint combining ecology and feminism, which advocates re-examining and criticizing the relationship between human and nature, male and female in modern society. It emphasizes the close connection and interdependence between women and nature, advocates respect and protection of nature, and also focuses on women’s rights and equality. Therefore, from the perspective of ecofeminists, this paper analyzes Anne’s attitude towards nature and gender relations, and analyzes her growth path in combination with herself, family and friendship, so as to reveal the significance of Anne’s image in promoting women’s awakening, growth and environment. Finally, it calls on human beings to love nature and realize harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
