ABSTRACT: The Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards (2022 Edition) take moral education as its fundamental task. English textbooks are an important carrier of moral education within the subject, and the development and utilization of their multimodal moral education resources are particularly crucial. This paper takes the People’s Education Press Grade 7 English textbook (2024 edition, full set) as the research object, comprehensively employing content analysis, multimodal discourse analysis, and case study methods to systematically analyze the moral education coding methods and value transmission paths of text, images, and sounds in the textbook. The study finds that the textbook’s multimodal moral education presentation suffers from insufficient resource mining, lack of intermodal linkage, and unclear teaching transformation paths. Based on these findings, targeted improvement strategies are proposed to provide practical references for teachers to accurately discover moral education resources in the textbook and plan diverse teaching activities, thereby promoting the organic integration of knowledge transmission and value guidance in English teaching.
