ABSTRACT: The present paper analyses the epistemological status of the theory of homeopathy in the framework of the main scientific theories of its time. First of all, Hahnemann underlined its experimental nature in opposition to an abstract, rationalist medicines suggested by some his contemporaries. Moreover, recent studies on the foundations of logic enabled to recognize in the original texts of some non-Newtonian scientific theories of Hahnemann’s time the occurrences of doubly negated propositions pertaining to non-classical logic. Hahnemann’s writings are scrutinized according to this characteristic feature. A more accurate interpretation of Hahnemann’s thinking results. In particular the entire organization of his theory emerged as that of the non-Newtonian ones. His method of cure is enlightened under a new viewpoint. Some critical suggestions on the uncertain epistemological status of homeopathy are added.
