ABSTRACT: Over the last few years, laser radiation therapy has gained increasing popularity in treating difficult dermatological problems. However, the effect of radiation at the cellular level is often only briefly described. In this article, our goal is to explain the fundamental mechanisms that enable human cells to function at their best capacity. Moreover, we aim to give a clear overview of how laser radiation therapy (LRT) can influence these pathways and what crucial role the mitochondrion has in photobiomodulation.
