ABSTRACT: Against the backdrop of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) going global, this study focuses on the global communication of bamboo weaving, a traditional Chinese ICH craft. Using online fieldwork, the study draws on an integrated theoretical framework of 5W Communication Model and Platform Affordance Theory. It explores core challenges, practical needs, prominent characteristics and optimization strategies for bamboo weaving’s international promotion, identifying bottlenecks like inadequate multilingual translation and cultural mismatch, as well as demands for interdisciplinary talents and localized content. It proposes constructing a multi-dimensional publicity system with official leadership and folk collaboration, offering practical insights for the global communication of traditional craft ICH.
