ABSTRACT: Acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE) is a rare, rapidly progressive, and severe immune-mediated neurological disorder that frequently leads to severe neurological sequelae or mortality. Viral infection represents a common pathogenic factor, while cytokine storm constitutes the primary pathogenic mechanism. ANE is a distinct clinical entity characterized by specific clinical and imaging features. Immunomodulatory therapy and anti-cytokine interventions represent effective treatment strategies for ANE.
