ABSTRACT: An electrical current running through a wire generates a surrounding magnetic field which is detectable by a compass. The right-hand is used to determine, at each position, the direction of this magnetic field. This direction is clearly in agreement with the direction given by the compass. Even if this rule is accepted today, the objective of this article is to rewrite our knowledge of the magnetic field in the case of two or more electrical wires.
