  ABSTRACT: The decision of the Inter-American Human Rights Court in U’wa Indigenous People and their Members v. Colombia (2024) is relevant to exploring the path of protecting human rights in the development of energy infrastructure projects. The analytical and historical method allows us to explore the background of the case, as well as the reasoning that determined the violations of the human rights of the indigenous people. The research aims to identify specific strategies for advocating for human rights in energy projects. This includes promoting policies and legal instruments designed to protect human rights, reasonable dialogue and communication, as well as assessing the due diligence processes implemented to safeguard vulnerable populations, such as members of indigenous groups.
