ABSTRACT: To date, accurate assessment of muscle tissue and bone has proven difficult due to lack of definition and detail of the recorded signal. With the use of an SMB pre-amplifier electronic unit, which uses a unique system to intensify and clarify acoustic output, we present a proof-of-concept that such a device is now capable of assessing and diagnosing differences in bone structure as well as soft body tissues, in a rapid, safe and non-invasive manner. It is proposed that the SMB pre-amplifier has potential as a diagnostic tool, pending validation in a larger more diverse patient cohort, and that it could be of benefit in a clinical and microgravity setting, as well as being an acoustic delivery phenomenon producing a perceived enhanced listening experience.
