ABSTRACT: Chitosan was composited with raw biochar in different ratios to prepare CBC series materials. The successful loading of chitosan was manifested in the formation of a microporous-dominated membrane structure and a reduction in the specific surface area of the materials, which was subsequently accompanied by an enhancement in structural ordering and an increase in the abundance of surface functional groups, thereby providing more active sites for subsequent adsorption. A novel material was developed in this study for efficiently remediating polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-contaminated soils and aquatic environments by blending biochar with chitosan in varying ratios, providing both theoretical foundations and practical references for green environmental remediation technologies.
