  ABSTRACT: Background: Managing hypertriglyceridemia in HIV-infected patients often requires multiple pharmacologic strategies. Many protease inhibitors (PIs), one of 6 classes of drugs used to treat HIV, have been associated with hypercholesterolemia and drug interactions.
