ABSTRACT: This study investigates the application of Koller’s Equivalence Theory in the Chinese translation of popular science texts, using the Chinese rendition of the popular science work Medical Toxicology of Natural Substances: Foods, Fungi, Medicinal Herbs, Plants, and Venomous Animals as a case study. Based on the framework of Koller’s theory, the study analyzes its practical application in translating popular science texts from five dimensions: denotative, connotative, text-normative, pragmatic, and formal-aesthetic equivalence.
