ABSTRACT: This article analyses the pathway for Chinese nationals to acquire permanent residency in the EU member state of Cyprus (officially called the Republic of Cyprus). It also considers Cyprus’s membership of the EU, the important Schengen visa territory (which membership is considered to be imminent) and explains the potential compliance issues involved for Chinese nationals who are interested to participate in such scheme. Although the article principally acts as a guide for Chinese nationals who are considering immigration into Cyprus, it is also of use to practitioners and policy makers active in this field.
