ABSTRACT: This review examines the current status and future directions of continuing education (CE) and career development for medical laboratory personnel in Shandong Province. A survey of 229 respondents has pinpointed three critical gaps in continuing education: curricula that have fallen behind technological advances, promotion pathways that lack clear definition, and policy support that remains conspicuously weak. We highlight successful hybrid-learning models and mentorship programs that improve retention and job satisfaction. Policy recommendations include standardized CE accreditation, diversified career ladders, and increased public funding. Strengthening these areas will upgrade workforce competency, reduce turnover, and ultimately enhance the quality of regional healthcare services.
