ABSTRACT: The shortage of freshwater resources has become a global challenge, and the current methods of freshwater production include thermal separation, membrane separation, and electrochemical methods. Thermal separation requires high energy consumption and is prone to secondary pollution; membrane separation is affected by membrane contamination, resulting in poor stability of the device; capacitive deionization technology in the electrochemical method has the advantages of high efficiency, environmental protection, simple devices, and stable water production, which has the potential for industrial application.
