  ABSTRACT: Safeguarding critical infrastructure is paramount to ensuring the stability and security of the U.S. supply chain, particularly in an increasingly interconnected world. The reliability of essential services—ranging from energy and transportation to healthcare and communication—has a direct impact on economic resilience and public safety. By prioritizing robust cybersecurity measures and physical security strategies, we can protect against cyberattacks and natural disasters, which can disrupt supply lines and jeopardize national security. For instance, the successful public-private partnership between the Department of Homeland Security and Microsoft in implementing the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has significantly enhanced the resilience of the U.S. supply chain. The 2021 Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack highlighted vulnerabilities, resulting in widespread fuel shortages and significant economic consequences. However, such partnerships and investments in infrastructure resilience can prevent and mitigate these disruptions, fostering public trust and enabling a swift recovery from unforeseen events. Furthermore, collaboration among government agencies and private sector stakeholders is crucial for developing comprehensive risk management frameworks. Therefore, a strategic approach to safeguarding our critical infrastructure is essential for maintaining the integrity and reliability of the U.S. supply chain, ultimately benefiting the nation.
