ABSTRACT: The purposes of this paper were three-fold: first to explore the importance of Assistive Technology (AT) for students with disabilities; second to discuss how AT-related regulations, practices, and frameworks would ease the learning and social inclusion of students with disabilities as well as promote their accessibility and decision-making processes; and third to identify factors that are promoting or otherwise detracting AT implementation in schools. The paper concludes with recommending a way forward on how to enhance AT implementation as well as to overcome challenges that hinder its implementation.
