ABSTRACT: This study examined parents’ attitudes regarding a girl child’s education with a focus on a few chosen towns in Ekiti State, Nigeria. The study’s survey design was descriptive in nature. Using a multistage sampling technique, four towns in Oye Local Government, Nigeria, were chosen using a purposeful sample technique. 52 respondents were chosen from each municipality using the quota sampling technique. Using a convenience sampling technique, 156 respondents in total were chosen. The research findings indicate that parents in the studied areas have a positive attitude towards the education of girls, despite the possibility that some sociocultural elements, such as religion, culture, and parent educational attainment and poverty, may lessen the likelihood of girls’ education. The study suggested that enlightenment campaigns and girl-child education policies could enhance and boost parents’ positive attitudes toward girl-child education. The government should also provide free or more inexpensive education for girls.
