ABSTRACT: Translanguaging, which underscores the innovative deployment of two or more languages across different socio-cultural contexts, has garnered considerable interest within the realms of applied linguistics and multilingual education. This study analyzes 1182 scholarly articles from the core journal database of the Web of Science (WOS) via CiteSpace. The results show that: 1) Translanguaging studies are attracting increasing attention and have emerged as a pivotal area of focus; 2) Language teaching and pedagogy have remained central themes over the years; 3) The field of translanguaging research has also begun to explore learner identity, multimodal perspectives, educational policies, and sociocultural implications; 4) Future research is anticipated to intersect more with language services, the discourse of minority groups, cognitive linguistic landscapes, interdisciplinary studies, and technology-enhanced or AI-empowered language practices and teaching within the context of multilingual education.
