ABSTRACT: In the journey of the new era, telling the story of China well and disseminating the voice of China effectively are crucial paths to strengthen cultural confidence. Against this backdrop, cultivating students’ ability to spread Chinese culture has become a new mission of foreign language education today. As an essential part of China’s cultural heritage, regional culture not only enhances students’ cognition and emotional connection to local culture but also leverages its linguistic and cultural advantages to present the rich and long-standing local culture to the world more authentically. Taking the integration of Shaoxing ancient city culture into English major courses in Shaoxing universities as an example, this paper further explores four key factors: bilingual education teachers, textbook integration, classroom implementation mode, and theory-practice integration, based on a thorough analysis of the significance and barriers of its integration. Addressing the encountered challenges, it proposes four specific pathways from the perspectives of strengthening the teaching force, developing excellent bilingual textbooks, implementing diversified teaching modes, and constructing a second class. This research aims to provide solid support for the better integration of Shaoxing ancient city culture into English major courses in Shaoxing universities, further expand the influence of Shaoxing ancient city culture, and thereby contribute to enhancing the global dissemination of Chinese culture.
