ABSTRACT: This paper aims to explore the application of new media teaching in English extensive reading courses. With the development of the information age, the widespread adoption and application of new media technologies have brought unprecedented changes to education. As an important part of enhancing students’ comprehensive language abilities, how to integrate new media technologies into English extensive reading courses to improve teaching effectiveness has become one of the current hot topics in educational research. This paper first provides an overview of new media teaching and English extensive reading courses, then discusses the current state of new media teaching applications in these courses, analyzing their advantages and challenges. Finally, by incorporating students’ actual classroom experiences, the paper examines how to effectively utilize new media technologies to improve the teaching model of English extensive reading courses and proposes corresponding suggestions and prospects.
