ABSTRACT: Terrorism is replete with violence against innocent citizens. It is intended to cause fear and pandemonium among people. However, terrorism is not novel, it dates back to centuries prior to the modern day. Terrorist activity can now be found in virtually all countries of the world and the US 9/11 attack is perhaps the most popular terrorist act of the modern day. This study examined Terrorism from ancient times to the modern day. The study revealed that there have been different terror groups in existence at different times and ages. The study further did a comparative examination of the effect of acts of terrorism in pre-modernity and modernity. The study concluded that acts of terrorism have continued to have devastating consequences on humanity at different times and ages and it is even more brazen in the modern era.
