  ABSTRACT: The current study aims to highlight the significance of the clichés attached to Muslim women spread by Orientalist painters in general. However, this study will mainly explore this subject through the painting “Women in Algiers” by Delacroix. This paper will analyse the work of Delacroix’s “Women in Algiers” through previous research to understand the relationship between Orientalist painters and Muslim women, a product of both imagination and reality.
