ABSTRACT: In recent years Non-profit Organisations have been incorporated into development policies
by the Governments and this has been informed by the Millennium Development
Goals. Amongst the requirements for the achievement of the Millennium
Development Goals is various stakeholders’ voices that there is a need to
create an enabling environment for Non-profit organisations. The paper aimed to
establish the effectiveness of Non-profit organisations operating in enabling
environment that Alleviate Unemployment in Buffalo City Metropolitan. The
research methodology employed was the qualitative research design and data was
collected using a workshop and interviews as the qualitative data collection
methods. The data was analyzed by employing a thematic data analysis system.
The findings showed that, the environment in which Non-profit organisations
operate was not enabling or conducive to creating jobs that could alleviate
unemployment in the Buffalo City Metropolitan.
