ABSTRACT: This paper reviews the definition and characteristics of online games,
discusses the negative and positive effects of Internet on teenagers, and summarizes
the negative and positive effects of online games on teenagers from three
dimensions of physiological development, cognitive development, social
development and personality development. Online
games are a double-edged sword, which may make teenagers addicted and even
psychologically unbalanced, but they can also gain more role experience,
enhance self-awareness and teamwork consciousness, and expand the scope of
interpersonal communication.
