  ABSTRACT: The textile and clothing industry is a traditional advantageous industry of Guangdong Province, especially Dongguan city, located in the hinterland of the Pearl River Delta region. Its textile and clothing industry is a well-known production and export base. In order to improve the export competitiveness of Dongguan textile and clothing industry, three major international competitiveness indicators were selected in this article to analyze the export competitiveness of Dongguan city’s textile and clothing industry. Those are International Market Share Index, Trade Competitive Advantage Index, and Revealed Comparative Advantage Index. The corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are proposed to address the problems in the export competitiveness of Dongguan city’s textile and clothing industry.
