ABSTRACT: Currently, the global oil trade continues to exhibit a rapid growth trend, with petroleum commerce texts encompassing various fields such as petrochemicals, finance, investment, and trade. The vocabulary in petroleum commerce texts has its distinct characteristics. In this article, based on Eugene A. Nida's theory of functional equivalence, the lexical features and translation methods in petroleum commerce texts are discussed from multiple perspectives, including specialized words, archaic words, abbreviations, term repetition and noun usage trends. The aim is to provide some reference value and inspiration for the translation of petroleum commerce texts.
