ABSTRACT: Piano pedals can affect the performance by changing the volume or timbre. The middle pedals of upright pianos in Chinese and American colleges and universities have different functions. Based on the differences in social development, cultural environment and learning style of piano music between China and the United States, this paper compares and probes into the functional differences of the Middle Pedals in upright pianos in Chinese and American colleges and universities. Different Piano pedals have different functional principles and effects, so it is of great practical significance to explore and analyze the functional differences between Chinese and American Upright Piano pedals.
