  ABSTRACT: The purpose of this paper is to use literature research, combining theory and reality, the unity of logic and history research method, based on a series of important discussions in the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, including the study about the history of the Communist Party of China, the new Chinese history, the history of reform and open and the socialist history. Xi revealed the ideological connotation of learning the “four histories” by focusing on the three questions of “why to learn, what to learn and how to learn”. To explore how Xi’s important discussion on the study of the “four histories”, its ideological connotation can point out the direction, interpret and provide scientific guidance for the study of the “four histories”.
