ABSTRACT: Architectural heritage is all the physical objects created by the various construction activities of human civilization, specifically including all kinds of buildings and structures, as well as cities, villages and towns, and the environment associated with them, so it is necessary to study the conservation of architectural heritage. However, there are few reviews of architectural heritage conservation theory and research in the academic community, and there is a lack of systematic and macroscopic analysis and sorting. In order to provide a clearer picture of the basic overview and characteristics of architectural heritage conservation theory and research, problems and future research directions in the 20 years from 2002 to 2022, this review uses documentary analysis and bibliometric methods, with the help of the logical and visual features of Citespace software. This review uses bibliometric and bibliographic methods to analyse the theoretical and practical literature on architectural heritage conservation published on the China Knowledge Network between 2002 and 2022, in order to explore the hot spots and characteristics of the theoretical and practical research on architectural heritage conservation in the past 20 years, and to provide ideas and reference directions for future theoretical and technical research.
