ABSTRACT: COVID-19 pandemic had been announced as a global pandemic on 11 March 2020 which imposed a lot of problems in most of the sectors in the whole world including education. Concurrently, the process of teaching and learning still should be conducted and all of the teachers had to switch their teaching styles and methods from traditional teaching to remote teaching. Thus, the aim of this study is to investigate the motivation of TESL primary school teachers towards remote teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study employed a quantitative design and utilized questionnaire as a method of collecting the data. There were 101 respondents of TESL primary school teachers from various types of schools in one of the districts located in Johor, Malaysia who have been conducting remote teaching consistently since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country. The findings disclosed that majority of the teachers have high level of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation towardsthe implementation of remote teaching due to several factors albeit few numbersof teachers who are still having low level of motivation in conducting remote teaching. Future study should involve teachers or respondents from all over Malaysia in order to have more comprehensive findings on this particular topic.
