ABSTRACT: Longinus and Burke are two important founders of the western aesthetic thought of “Sublimity”. In fact, both of them contain the color of humanism when discussing this aesthetic thought. This paper attempts to analyze the humanistic color contained in Longinus and Burke's lofty thought from their source and definition of sublime.
