ABSTRACT: In this study, a comprehensive survey of medical
assistance in Chongqing was conducted by literature review, group interview and
questionnaires, and some prominent problems were found, including imperfect fund-raising
mechanisms, complex medical assistance
procedures, as well as inadequate propaganda and understanding of
medical assistance policies. It is thereby proposed that the government shall
further improve the financing mechanism of medical assistance funds, simplify
the medical assistance procedures, and increase the publicity of medical
assistance policies. Our study is expected to provide the governments with a decision-making reference when
formulating and improving medical assistance policies.
