ABSTRACT: To explore the motivation of learning College English among non-English language major students in our university, a survey was assigned to language major English learners excluding English majors, followed by an interview with randomly chosen subjects in the survey. The study has shown that a majority of non-English language majors are driven by extrinsic motivation and integrated motivation, while a small amount of them are intrinsically driven, which leads to difficulty in teaching College English to learners in our university. In order to solve the problem, some suggestions are proposed to deal with the dilemma in the context of our university.
