ABSTRACT: Leadership, as the act of guiding an organization, is increasingly recognized as an imperative skill in the current society, especially in the healthcare setting. However, its lack of clear conceptualization and widespread cultivation of such skill leads to our review, which aims to identify various factors that can further enhance leadership in healthcare workers hence improving the healthcare system. This review explores the various leadership enhancement strategies implemented in different countries from several perspectives, namely educational strategies, health executive positions, legislation, and reports. Moreover, leadership styles and their association with job satisfaction, therefore patient outcomes, are also discussed. Several strategies are implemented in other countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, and the Netherlands to engage healthcare personnel in leadership. Educational strategies, health executive positions, frameworks, policies, and reports have been implemented in guiding doctors in adopting leadership and ameliorating the current health system. Both transformational and transactional leadership have distinct effects on job satisfaction, and a significant number of studies found that transformational leadership is positively associated with work satisfaction. Thus, it is more widely accepted and practiced by others.
