ABSTRACT: Brazilian deaf students choose careers mainly from the areas of social sciences. Apparently this is associated with the lack of content in Brazilian Sign Language about scientific and technological areas or even due to the lack of knowledge about deaf professionals and/or scientists working in these areas. Thus, this work aimed to translate to Portuguese and evaluate an American website called “Deaf Scientist Corner” dedicated to publicizing deaf scientists and their achievements, followed by evaluation. The translated site in Portuguese is “O Canto do Cientista Surdo” that was evaluated by 35 people including deaf ones. The results showed great acceptance, and potential to motivate so that the deaf can be inspired by scientific and technological careers. This site can also strength and disseminates these workplaces to the deaf in the society. Therefore, this website translation analysis reinforced that the knowledge about deaf scientists has great potential to encourage deaf people to continue in technological and scientific areas.
