ABSTRACT: To Kill a Mockingbird and Their Eyes Were Watching God are two famous novels focusing on black people. Starting with four stereotypes of black women, this paper analyzes the different images of black women in American Literature, exampled by white woman writer Harper Lee and black woman writer Zora Neale Hurston in their respective works, and discusses the influence of mainstream culture on the image of black women, calling on people to pay more attention to black women groups.
