ABSTRACT: Filial ethics is an important part of the Confucian
culture. As the corner-stone of the feudal ethics and morals, even with a strong
color of feudalism, filial ethics is useful for the standardization of words
and deeds in the modern world. Coming into the new era, we should take a
dialectical and critical view of the Confucian filial ethics and inherit its
positive elements. It will be of great significance in improving individuals’
moral cultivation, strengthening the ethical ties of both the family and
society, and spreading the Chinese traditional virtues.
